Is jews both a religion and a race?

this might seem like a stupid question to some, but I'm really confused on this, Is jews part of the caucassian race if so then why are some prejudice against their own kind? and if it's both a race and a religion then if not caucasian what category do they fall in what would they put on a job application? they don't have jew as an option I don't think. Would they use "other"? just a thought

oh I forgot all about sammy davis jr. who was black and a jew, but I'm talking about the ones that are born jew if that sounds right

also a another thought if not a race then when asked what are you? are what nationality are you? they reply I'm jew not I'm white and jew or what ever and then say my religion is jew I don't know, but that's what people tell me when I ask, I'm so confused by this

There is no set race on Jewish people you can be any nationality and be Jewish... It's typically associated with a race because certain nations states and neighborhoods are Typically Jewish. But that goes with any religion. A staggering percent of Hispanics are Catholic But it's not just a hispanic religion.. No, the Jews aren't a separate race. The reason why a lot of people are biased against the Jews is because people believe that the Jews killed Jesus Christ. While that may be true, I find that a lot people don't know that Jesus himself, was of the Jewish faith. Jews can be of all different races, so what race they are really depends on the person. But generally, Jews from Israel would probably consider themselves middle-eastern.

There are those that practice Judaism that are of Jewish decent, and there are those that practice Judaism that are not of Jewish decent thus the religious aspect of it. There are those whose heritage (genetics) is Jewish no matter what religion they are.
Another way to talk about it...there are certain mutations that seem to follow racial lines. For example, Down's Syndrome occurs most often in Caucasians than any other race. Tay Sach's occurs more often in the Jewish race than any other.
Jews also follow their heritage from their mother's bloodline and not their fathers as most European cultures do.

I think it is both. I know a jewish family who isnt jewish in religion just by nationality. On the job application they would just put 'white' or 'caucasian'. And there are many races that are racist within their race. For example, there are many people who are 'hispanic' but are from so many different countries, and some of them dont like eachother. Same goes with 'asians', they can be from different countries and not like eachother but they still fall in the same 'race' category in a job application. Hope I didnt confuse you more

I think they are part of the same race as Caucasians, but that prejudice nowadays isn't based so much on race than other factors like religion, nationality, etc. Even within the same nationality, you get prejudice. For instance, a lot of chauffeurs in Shanghai pride themselves on being "Shanghainese" and whenever they see a car accident, they scoff and say, "It's probably somebody from the country. They can't drive."

Also, I always thought job apps took ehtnic groups, not race, since race was categorized as caucasian, mongoloid and *****, some quite archaic terms.
