I don't have a favourite author as such, what I read depends on my mood.
At the moment, I'm into crime books. As such, I've recently read Ann Rule, Patricia Cornwell and Lisa Gardner.
However, I like JK Rowling and have even been known to read Barbara Cartland from time to time (but don't tell OK? LOL)

I won't lie and go for the serious lit...but
I read waaaaay too much to have just one favorite so right now one of my tops is Janet Evanovich. Her books do not require a lot of thought to enjoy. Her Stephanie Plum series would be my favorite "book" by her. So funny that you will be crying -God bless Grandma Mazur and Lula!!! Don't much care for most of her other stuff though.
And I know you asked for just one but I just read Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen and I adored it as well. If only someone would ask: "List all of the best books that you have ever read...." but I think that would be opening a can of worms, wouldn't it???
