1. Get stick-on mustaches and funny teeth! I got those last year, and they were great, even the women wore the mustaches! Hats, ears, and feather boas are also quick accessories that are cheap.

2. Streamers, and yards of very cheap fabric to cover the walls and ceiling. (Tulle is less than a buck a yard, and it come in black.) Get those fake spider webs too, and put lots of insects and spiders in them. If you can get any spiders to hang so that people could walk into them, it will freak them out. Get a pound of dry ice; it's about $1.00/pound, and have that make it murky.

3. Use whatever decorations you have left over from the rest of your basement. Make sure the lights are dim.

4. Get a Halloween-ish table cloth and some candle or pumpkins. They have light up skulls and pumpkins at Target and Wal-Mart, and they provide some pretty cool light. They'd be easy to move if there is too much food and not enough space.

buy some cheap masks at the dollar store for guests that do not dress up..

Dry ice and water make eerie fog
ghosts made out old sheets are still good
scarecrows are hanging around in old clothes and with brooms
black plastic spiders on snack table

Bloody Punch with Floating Hand of Death
How did that gruesome green hand end up in the punch? And what are those icky red clots floating around? Who cares — it’s wickedly good.

3 cups (500 mL) cranberry juice

1-1/2 cups (250 mL) apple juice

1-1/2 cups (250 mL) grape juice

2 cups (500 mL) caffeine-free cola

1 cup (250 mL) frozen strawberries

In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the cranberry juice, apple juice and grape juice. Stir, then refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. At the last possible moment, add the cola, the strawberries and, of course, the Floating Hand of Death (directions below).

Makes about 10 servings.

Floating Hand of Death
In a measuring cup or jar, stir a few drops of green food coloring into some water — not too much, just enough to give it a slightly decomposed tint. Pour the greenish water into a disposable rubber glove (the stretchy kind — make sure it’s not powder-coated inside) and tie the top securely. Place in the freezer for several hours or overnight. At serving time, peel the glove off the hand and deposit icy hand in chilled punch. Yum.

<>Here's one doozy for your basement. You'll need some props: a peeled grape, a piece of raw liver, some ketchup (you'll catch on in a sec!). Set up some chairs in the basement in a line, bring the guests in and sit them down and turn out the lights. Now, start telling a gruesome, scary story with lots of grisly body dismemberment. As you describe something gross (eg: "They gouged out his eyes") hand (the peeled grape(s)) to the first person in the line, telling them to pass it on. For the liver, "His heart was ripped, still beating" from his chest." You get the idea. Since it's in the dark, you don't even need decorations. They'll be freaked!

For the table, I used a REAL cow tongue bought at the grocery store and a black cauldron filled with watered (but not too much) down tomato soup, hung the tongue over the edge.....kids were grossed out.lol. Ripped off a baby doll head splattered blood over its neck, etc and stuck it on a real turkey (use anything ya want lol)...bought dolls from the thrift store and "decorated" one like a female Chucky...stitches, gray paint streaked in the hair and twisted its arms and legs...stuck a fork in one and put it on a plate with "blood" all over...etc....I totally believe in the ONE DOLLAR STORES! You GOTA have spider web....perhaps for that tv room...stretch it right and it'll cover a heckuva lota places! Just a few things.....I got loads.....:) Have a great party! (can I come?)
