The golden ratio, also known as the divine proportion, golden mean, or golden section, is a number often encountered when taking the ratios of distances in simple geometric figures such as the pentagon, pentagram, decagon and dodecahedron. It is denoted phi, or sometimes tau. The designations "phi" (for phi) and "Phi" (for the golden ratio conjugate Phi==1/phi) are sometimes also used (Knott).

Phi or the golden proportion is the "beauty" number for many, as it seem to be the most agreeable for humans when used to, for example, draw a rectangle, or position things in a paintin, or spirals, etc...

Mathematicians seem to see beauty in the number and type of properties a number has.. and things such simetry, uniqueness, etc... I would say that for matematicians the most beautiful numbers are probably the prime numbers, as they are the "atoms" of mathematics. Then you have some numbers that were given mystical powers, taking into account their relationship with religious thoughts. The number 3, the number 4, the number 1, the number 7 was perfection among the greeks. Read the book "the man who counted", it is quite easy to read and interesting.

And to be a little original the number that humans most would have wanted to exist and would have been the most beautiful number if existed, is the number that would have solved the problem of the quadrature of the circle. But it does not exist in this universe, so it could be the number that most of the living creatures in thid universe first tried to find (and failed).

The chances of you or me winning Lotto ar slim BUT everyday someone wins. "you know that God cannot be created nor destroyed" Just cos you say that does NOT make it a fact. EITHER everything has a 'creator' or nothing does. You can't go picking and choosing what obeys the 'rules' and what doesn't. That's EXACTLY the same as cheating or LYING. Next you'll be trying to convince us that ... 'he' was down at the local bar and, in trying to attract the barman's attention by *schnapping* 'his' fingers for another beer, accidentally created all this. I think that i is one of the most beautiful number in the mathematical universe since it opens up a whole new world of mathematics! i is defined to be the square root of -1, and hence, although equations such as (x^2)+1=0 have no real solutions, they do have complex solutions (i.e solutions of the form a+ib where a and b are real numbers)

The most beautiful formula in the universe relates 5 incredibly important numbers as follows:

e^(ixpi)+1=0

That is, add one to the number obtained by raising e to the power of i(pi) and you obtain 0.

The answer would definitely be "phi" or Φ. The value of this symbol is 1.618033989. Phi is otherwise known as the Golden Ratio, due to the fact that its value can be found in many geological patterns, including the shape of a crustacean's shell, human body lengths and length ratios found in mathematical shapes like the decagon.

Probably the most interesting number in mathematics.

Although I don't really believe in Astrology or Horoscopes and such, I still like to look and read. It provides some interesting thoughts. According to astrollogy and horoscopes, my lucky number is four. I think each of us has our own 'most beautiful number in the universe'. It doesn't matter how we each find it.

That answer would be an infinate possibility. However, to choose a number i cant do that because numbers are endless. You could say choose a number from 1 - eternity?
Close your eyes count to ten and open and then see what number pops into head. In your sub conscious it would be beautiful to you.
