common questions

#What are your weakness?
ans: this is what i call a trick question. a goodway to ans this aquesstion is to point out something that may look like a weakness, bu is really a strength. an example of that would be to say; "I think it is for others to assess my weakness. in my last annual appraisal, my boss did tell me that my weakness was that i never gave up. at firs i didnt understand his concern but after thinking about it i can see his point and i have got better about knowing when to quit."

# what can you contribute to your new job?
ans: this is a question an interviewer might ask to find out how the concern would benefit from having you as an employee...in answering this ques you need to put yrslf in the plae of the interviewer...employers hire achievers and so you shud highlight your achievements from your past jobs......

#Why are you leaving your curent job?
ans: this is such a common question that every candidate should be prepared with credible answer. make your answer positive and upbeat. even if you are unhappy with your current job, it is not a good idea to say that to someone who may wonder whether you are a complainer who is never satisfied.

#Wha is your ambition in life
ans: this is one that you must find your own answer for ,,,if you are stuck , you might start writin down your likes an ddislikes...try to be creative in thinking about what you see as your dream job and then list the steps you wud needto take in order to reach that goal...keeping in mind that it may not be something that you can attain immediately.......this wud show the interviewer that you are ambitious,,,but mature enough to understand that you must take things one step at a time to achieve your ambiton in life.

ALL THE BEST DEAR!!

Are you asking for some clues on how to go about an interview - if so I can help. Having just spent 2 days interviewing people for five new posts within my expanding department. Look smart when you attend, whatever the job this makes a good impression.

Main thing is to research the company you are going to for the interview - find out something about what they do. If it's not an obvious company that everyone knows then type the name into the internet and find out something, anything about them and their business. Express an interest in it. Ask a few questions about it so they know you have taken the trouble to look them up and understand their business.

Know exactly what it is that interested you in the job - dont mention money or living nearby, sound professional - no matter what the job, think about what you have got to offer the company - your skills and experience - even if it is not work based but based on an area in your life. If this is one of the first job interviews you have been to, then tell them you are looking for new experience to enable you to further your career in future. Think about what that might be they might ask you what you have in mind for a career in future.

Think about any training you might want that would help you to do the job and ask whether they would support this in any way or if you would have to do it in your own time and at your own expense - tell them you are prepared to if necessary (even if it's not strictly true - if you get the job, you can always tell them that you want to get used to the feel of the job before embarking on any external training).

Above all smile, even in you don't feel it. Don't talk too much but answer the questions to the point. If you're not sure of how to answer perhaps on how you would handle a situation should it arise, tell them you're not sure because you haven't had that experience in life but you would ask advice from someone more senior.

Think about your weakensses - you may be asked what your bad points are. Whatever you say - keep it to one bad point and think out how you have learned to deal with it ie you have a bad memory but you have learned to write everything down so you don't forget things. Make it relevant to the job you do.

By the way if the job is secretarial be prepared to do a test on your skills. Remeber they may ask you about confidentiality - this is vital to any organisation - say you would not divulge anything to any outisder. Mention data protection.

Obviously not all of this will apply to the job you want - you didnt say what it was - but I hope some of it helps.

G'day milliemilinka,

Thank you for your question.

My advice is to be well-briefed on the job and the college you hope to work for. I would also ask questions about the job and the college but not about pay as you don't want to seem greedy.

If you have some blank spots on your resume be frank about them and sound positive. If you left your a former job on bad terms, don't gripe about it but say what you learnt in a positive way.

Be relaxed when you go in and confident that you are as well-prepared as you can be.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Knock em dead tomorrow.

Regards

IS it a job interview? If it is then My top advice for you...

* Be yourself! Be confident and be bold! No matter how you feel, make sure you do this!

* Make sure that they can tell you want the job - but at the same time, dont make yourself look desperate.

* Don't tell them that you are nervous, especially since the job is one where you will need to be confident.

* Don't be afraid to ask questions

* Let them know your skills!

* Smile

* Speak clearly and at an appropriate volume. Annunciate
your words properly.

* Dress appropriately. Maybe a pair of black pants and a buttonup shirt, or a nice long skirt and top to go.

* Let them know that you are eager to learn and are willing to take advice

* Have fun

* Arrive early!! VERY IMPORTANT!

* Make sure you are presented well - you look clean and nice and your hair is neat etc.

How long do you have until the interveiw? Maybe prepare in your head the type of things you may be asked. For this job, they could be...

* Do you listen to that radio station?

* What school do you go to? / What are you studying?

* What music do you like?

* Who do you admire?

* Why do you want the job?

* HAve you had any prior experience?

I do think that it is very important that you know why you want the job. I do not personally think you should practise, just have an idea of what to say.

Employability Skills and attributes that employers tend to look for are:

* Communication skiils
* Team Work Skills
* Problem-solving skills
* Initiative and enterprise skills
* Planning and organisational skills
* Self management
* Learning skills
* Technology Skills
* Loyalty
* Commitment
* Honesty and Integrity
* Enthusiasm
* Reliability
* Personal Presonation
* Commonsense
* Positive self-esteem
* Sense of Humor
* Motivations

Make sure you act like yourself though!!!

Have you made up a career portfolio and/or a resumae?

A career portfolio provides a personal collection of materials documenting your:
* Work History (can include work experience)
* Professional developement (do you coach sports etc?)
* Achievements (awards, sports etc)
* Employability skills
* Career plans
* Job application

Include stuff like rusumaes, cover letters, certificates, reference letters, referee lists, educational achievement records, awards, previous applications and more. You don't have to go overboard.

TO prepare you should

* Research the radio statoin
* Prepare some questoins to ask to show that you know the industry
* Perhaps practise with family, but don't have it polished - make it real
* Take your job application folder with you

For the interview be:

* Punctual - at least 10 minutes early to make yourself familiar with the setting
* Well prepared - take everything you need with you
* polite - look attentive, smile and shake hands
* thoughtful - take your time when answering questions
* positive - don't downplay your achievements or anything else
* confident - ask questions
* calm - try not to get flustered, it will help you in the end!

* If you are really nervous and it is showing, tell the interviewer.

Make sure you

* Turn off your mobile

* Dress appropriatly - keep makeup, jewlery and bright colours to a minimum

* are aware of your body language and tone of voice

Possible questions could be:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Why do you think you are suitible for the job?
Why would you like the job?
What are your strenghts/weaknesses?
Do you work well in a team?
Why should we employ you?
What can you offer us?

Try to use words such as 'achieved', 'managed' and 'improved' in your answers.

At the end, thank the interviewers by name. Make sure that you shake hands if they put their hand out. Sustain eye contact and restate your intrest. Do not ask about salary until a job offer is made

Good luck!!!!! Please email me if you want more help!

Just be yourself - if you don't know an answer - don't bluff - just say that you don't know. Hopefully you'll have researched the company already.

Best of luck.
