I have had moments of clarity in my lifetime. Recently after a religious ceremony, a tough business decision, what kind of biz to start, came clear to me. The other business used chemicals, I think the clarity was to steer me clear of the chemicals, they can be toxic and dangerous.
Now I have to admit that I do not know what alcoholics exactly refer to a moment of clarity as. Perhaps a clear moment where they realize drinking is not right for them?

I am an alcoholic, or a recovering alcoholic, and if I ever had a Moment of Clarity I was too drunk to recognize it.

Recovering alcoholic, here...and I don't believe I've heard that phrase.
I've had very FEW clear moments, either when I was drunk, or when I've been drying out...

Most of the alcoholics I know may have had a moment when they knew they needed help! But it's a disease that is a daily struggle, & far from clear!
