4 rows of treated 2x4's (all i had available, then covered top and bottom in untreated plywood sheeting. All edges sealed with caulking, and 3 coats of paint. the platform is used indoors in a living room about 5ft by 4ft and has plants and a few other things on it. Is there any issue with using that treated 2x4's inside the box? will it outgas or anything?

How old were the treated 2x4s?

I forget what they used to treat them with, but it was a tad bit poisonous.
Update: Yes. Arsenic - that was it. Thanks.

They switched a few years ago (I'd guess around 4 years) to a safer method.

If you've got it painted that good - I would not be worried in either case!

Treated wood contains copper chromium arsenic. This is applied in a liquid form to soak in the wood. The warnings on the lumber purchased should have told you the only way to expose yourself to the toxicity of the chemicals is to cut the lumber. So you may have exposed yourself when the project was built unless a dust mask was worn. As far as fumes go, its highly unlikely since the wood is covered with sheathing and painted over. I would worry more about paint fumes than "treatment fumes"

You probably have a lot more treated wood in your home than you think. Any more, all wood touching concrete or masonary is suppose to be treated. And in some cases a barrier between. Yes you will be OK.

btw a lot of treated lumber was treated with arsenic years ago and you might be able to find those still but now they are treated with copper oxizide (i think) either way as long as you or your children or pets dont chew on the wood you are fairly well safe from most harmful effects ( i use treated landscaping timbers to make outdoor funiture and i have had no problems )
