Most of the way will be clear, short of an untimely freeze.
The possible trouble spot is the Siskyou Pass, which is north cal/southern OR on I-5. I have been through there in November in heavy snow, chains only conditions, so it can happen.

If you take hwy 101 up to Bandon or Reedsport (OR), then over to I-5 for the rest of the trip, you should be just fine, esp if you are driving mostly in daytime.

Keep an eye on the weather reports, esp the official state road condition websites, plan your trip both ways ... then if all appears clear, head up I-5, otherwise take the other route.

You should be fine if you go straight up I-5 (continuing as BC-99 after the Canadian border). I've driven that road at other times of year, and there is no sign that any stretch of it gets severe weather. It's major national multi-lane highway the whole way, and you never hit any very high elevations. Highest elevaton is Siskyou pass just across the Oregon border, which is only 4,300 feet.

Stick to the coast, and you will not have any problems !
