Why are people in the army such assholes? Why do they have so much attitude and low tolerance when it comes to holding their temper and dealing with people? My brother has been an asshole all his life. I have always been like a mother type to him even though we have a mom. I am always looking out for him and doing special things for him. He is such a smug know it all asshole and it hurts. He has this thing about him where he acts like he is above everyone and acts as if everyone he talks to are incompetent idiots that are not worth his time. He will go off on someone at work for disturbing him and asking something he feels is stupid. He took psychology in college and loves to analyze people. I have this special bond with him where we talk and I know when not to mess with him and I handle him when no one else can. Seriously I think something is wrong with him. I don't know how to really talk to him about it. Has anyone dealt with someone like this?

We as his family always turned the other way when having to deal with him. He just has this huge chip on his soulder. Also I am not talking about all army people but since he has been dealing with them he has been ****** up. Granted he has had a tough life but my life has been way more f'd up than his and if I am not crazy and going off on everyone then he has no right to. I just wish I knew how to deal with him or talk to him.

I don't mean all army people. he has been this way long before the war, like since he was a kid. Yeah he did go through a hell of a lot when he was in the war. When he came back we thought he was a changed man. That lasted a good month or two. I am the only one who hasn't given up on him. Me and my mom, I just want to help him. I swear he is the biggest asshole, he is very inconsiderate and mean as the devil.

He probably has issue with himself, but is afraid to open up to anyone because he does not want others to think that he is weak. Try to approach him and tell him you have something you would like to discuss, but does not want to offend him. If he agree to talk about it then tell him exactly how you feel. Maybe it would make him feel comfortable to open up to you.

bitter from war maybe...there are a lot of emotional changes in people who serve as a soldier..they become harsh and tough. That's how they're trained I guess..

if your brother has issues, that doesn't mean all army people do.

start by seeing a counselor yourself, so you can set appropriate boundaries with him.
