Yeah, now it's about as safe as Detroit.
At night.
Wearing a "W" t-shirt.
With a confederate flag wrapped around you.

Your question is kind of loaded. The direct answer is No, they are still a floundering democracy with considerable tension.
However, 60 years ago people were asking that same question about Germany and Japan, in fact, the US still has a huge base in Germany and they still haven't allowed Japan to re-arm (although there is talk about it now with the North Korea situation).
Over time, Iraq will stabalize and turn into a US ally. The problem today is that Americans want instant results. It took the US in WW2 several years of heavy fighting and casualties before they were officially out and decades to rebuild. After a week in Iraq people were complaining the war was taking so long. It is all relative, in time democracy and freedom will overpower any insurgency.

In my opinion from watching several news and read papers from U.S.and Europe as well as Arab countries. I have to be honest that War in Iraq is not working and it is about time the U.S. has to give up her task and let Iraq deals with her own. The American people will not approve my theory but it is my truly Common Sense and it is the right thing our American need to do. I am sorry that we cause pain and agony to Iraq people as well as our American troops that pass away. I can not say how many lives that die in this war and it is about time to stop and make Peace in Middle East.

No, although the troops have eliminated Saddam Hussein's reign of barbarity, the country is still in chaos. I have doubts that a country that's spent centuries in turmoil will be able to solve their problems any time soon. Our presence simply keeps another maniacal dictator from taking charge again.

"Stable" hmmmm....that's are hard one. I don't know the answer to that. Now they don't have a ruler who can grab them off of the street at will to rape or torture them. So in that way it is more stable. But now they have to worry about terrorist blowing them up while they are walking to the store for a loaf of bread. I tend to believe that they know it is moving in the right direction though. If only more of them would become more irate over what their fellow Muslims are doing to their country and rise up against it......

don't you watch the news, our invading Iraq opened up a can of worms. Seems like everyday ten, twenty or more Iraqis are killed along with one or two or more Americans.

It's safer, if you're referring to the augmented earnings of Halliburton Corporation and other beneficiaries of the homicide for oil program.
