I bought a 2001 Ford Focus a month ago. When I test drove it, the turn signals never turned off by themselves, I had to manually do it. The salesperson said it was because I wasn't turning the wheel enough, which is crap. I don't think he was lying to me necessarily, he just didn't know what he was talking about. I had test drove another Focus and those turn signals also didn't turn off so I thought that's just how a Focus works. After doing some research, that doesn't seem to be the case, so what is wrong with it? Can I get it fixed? The car is still under warranty so should I take it to the dealer?

It SHOULD turn off when I make left/right/U-turns and it doesn't. When making a U-turn, the wheel is being turned completely, and it still doesn't turn off so I know turning of the wheel is not the problem.

Now that you have read the crap from the other know nothings, here is the real scoop

Inside the column is two small plastic peaces that catch on the wheel when you turn it. That is the click you hear when it catches each other and turns the signel off. These small plastic peaces have broken off and will now not cancle the turning signel.
You will have to remove the stearing wheel to get at it. You will have to buy a new turning signal switch. It comes all in one peace and all you really have to to is remove the wheel and the screws holdint it in place. Unplug the wires gide the new ones inplace and it will work again.

PS If it has an air bag remove the battery cables and be carfull when you unplug it
Also be shure you get the plastic peaces from inside the wheel( you will see them) as if you dont it will break off the new ones.

depending on your state, province etc diferent laws regarding turn signals on vehicles govern. Yes your salesman could of been right because on all vehicle there are settings for such devices that require you to turn your wheel a certain distance before the signal comes off as you would notice on most older models pre 2002 when you are switching lanes after a few turns of the wheel on the direction of change the light will come off and in many accidents was proven that the signal system shuting too erly led to many accidents as it did not give enough time for vehicles in the adjecent lanes to see the merging vehicles signal and you will notice that on all new vehicles you have to turn the light off manualy when shifting lanes on the highway from one lane to another.

the place I stay, the traditional sort of cases I see somebody use a blinker is approximately as quickly as according to trip, not counting turning lanes. And the area I stay in remains enormously busy. I ought to agree approximately youthful people likely being unable to do this effortless job. i'm 21 and in college and it drives me genuinely INSANE to ascertain maximum of people on campus turn this form and that devoid of using a blinker. yet then, I additionally ought to upload that I see a lot of center-elderly and elderly people doing this good comparable element. only one extra rationalization why the elderly could desire to ought to take yet another driving try whilst they attain a undeniable age, IMO. That must be my greatest puppy peeve on an identical time as driving. that's have been given to be the least confusing element to do and between the main secure, yet people can not extremely get the assumption down of pushing the little stick up or down!

It's tearin' up my heart when I'm with you
But when we are apart, I feel it too
And no matter what I do, I feel the pain
with or without you

(hey..yeah)
Baby I don't understand
Just why we can't be lovers
Things are getting out of hand
Trying too much, but baby we can't win

Let it go
If you want me girl, let me know
I am down, on my knees
I can't take it anymore

It's tearin' up my heart when I'm with you
But when we are apart, I feel it too
And no matter what I do, I feel the pain
with or without you

(oohhh...alright)
Baby don't mis-understand (don't misunderstand)
What I'm trying to tell ya
In the corner of my mind (corner of my mind)
Baby, it feels like we are running out of time

Let it go
If you want me girl, let me know
I am down on my knees
I can't take it anymore..ohhh

It's tearin' up my heart when I'm with you
But when we are apart, I feel it too
And no matter what I do, I feel the pain
with or without you

Tearin' up my heart and soul
We're apart I feel it too
and no matter what I do, I feel the pain
With or without you

Tearin' up my heart and soul (alright)
We're apart I feel it too (I feel it too)
and no matter what I do, I feel the pain
With or without you
