The problem that you'll run into is that audio conversion software does not read the audio from .mpg files. You'll probably need to use some sort of video editing software that lets you export the sound and save it as .wav or other sound format. If you're trying to select separate tracks, you'll need some sound editing software, such as Audacity, with which you can clip sections of the file as well.

It lets you rip audio from .mpg. It's not free, but not extremely expensive. It may be what you're looking for.

Use a .wav converter software. There is lot of freeware available check it out at downloads.com. you can also google for a.wav converter
