Can't exactly remember how it went, but there was an episode in which the females decided on Dr. Shephard's nickname. Ok...this is corny, but regardless of the moniker, he is MC-FINE!

Mc, or Mac, is a common feature in Scotch-Irish last names, and in the past has been used as a slight against those peoples.

I am not a fan, but one could assume that Dempsey is playing a character of such origins, from there it became a running gag in the show and among its fans.

No (insert bad word here). This show went from lame, to stupid, to completely f'in nuts. Having survived med school, and internship I can say there definatly was no where near that much nookie going on between docs. Not that it did not happen, just that it was not "everybody having sex" that they show. The show could be good if it wasn't so shallow.

It has to do with a nick name that Meredith gave him and the chicks as well. Every guy has a Mc something. Like McSteamy and McVet.

I just keep wondering when McDonald's is going to start cashing in on all of these McNames or McReferences. That would be one huge deal. :-)
