A lot of racers started out racing go karts...so if you haven't done so, you should try karting first...move on up..get to different levels (speed, engine size) of open wheel race cars...I would guess its a timely process that requires a lot of skill and dedication...i think the FIA would also require you to pass a test to acquire a super-license to achieve formula-one driver status...

I don’t know exactly what’s your age is. To become a race driver you have to participate in local go-karting races first. If you can show the potential, there could be the encouragement from the organizers which could help you for gaining sponsors. After continuing in karting for some years, you have to move to Europe to participate in euro formula 3, formula Renault, European Formula Super A championship and Formula Ford Euro Cup competitions. Then based on your talent you could get a test driver seat in any of the teams in formula1 and you will be tested by FIA to grant you a F1 superlicence which is compulsory for a formula1 driver.
So this entire process will take up to 10 years or more. So I would suggest you if you are below 10 years of age else u just forget it.
I wish you all the best.

its almost impossible to just become an F1 driver. the guys u see on tv have been driving at diffrent levels since they were 6 years old and they work theor way up to F1. so a start would be at any driving competition which you would have to dominate, and then work up.
