I watched a show on The Discovery Channel about the possible earthquake and Tsunami. I live in Northern California and it worries me knowing that it can happen at anytime.
Does anyone else have a huge fear of this happening?
I want to move, but it's so difficult. I have no idea where to go to be safe from mother nature. I know she's pretty mad. Does anyone know a safe place to live?
I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I have looked, and don't have much luck.
Thanks..

The tsunami is supposed to be huge. Not something that you can run from. It's supposed to hit Vancouver, Seattle, up to Northern California. They say it could happen anytime now-later. They said nothing about stopping it, but made it clear it will happen. It was on Discover channel tonight.

Dear Jane Doe,

You are absolutely right about your fears. I always follow my 'gut' feeling. That is God's way of talking to us, since He cannot come down in a big blue cloud and talk to us directly. If you are having those feelings to move, it is wise to follow them.

As to safe havens, with good jobs I might add, a place that has a solid bedrock. Minneapolis MN is solid bedrock and very safe, or areas around that part of the country. Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana. Even a tsunami will not reach here.

1. Earthquakes will happen again. I'll never forget the Northridge Quake January 17, 1994. One thing for sure is once you've lived through something disastrous, you realize how much we are all pawns on the earth. Your wealth, or poverty, won't save you if you are at the wrong place at the wrong time.

2. Scientific American states that there is a 35% chance of Tsunami with California.

3. These disasters have been happening for millions of years. It's how our planet operates within the universe. We also do uncaring things to the environment that make the Earth revolt back.

4. There are tornado areas, also. I've been through several of them & they are very scary. The sidewalks and piping were torn up from the ground. Roofs ripped off the buildings, or completely demolished.

5. Volcanos, floods, pests, draught. All kinds of things to get us. Our chances of dieing in a car accident, or of a disease or violent crime are probably higher than an earthquake or tsunami getting us.

6. Just be informed, and prepare as best you can for the worst. The rest is just unexpected fate as it will.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes.

Theres not really a safe place to live. What you could do is look at a map and choose the way that dying in a natural disaster would be less terrifying for you.
Earthquakes/volcano/tsunami = west coast
tornado = midwest
hurricane = east coast

I worry a little about the same things you do because I live on the Alaska coast just over 10 miles from a dormant volcano. There is no safe place. Some places have flooding, some get tornadoes, and some have wildfires.

Fortunately you live in the best country in the world. We have a tsunami warning alert system and you will have time to flee. Know your evacuation route, stay in shape and when they tell to evacuate do not lose 5-10 minutes looking for the makeup to take with you.

When an earthquake hits, all you have to do is get a few miles from the beach.
