No one person runs the US. Freaking checks and balances, remember? Ever take a government class? You might learn something. The Legislative branch (Senate and House of Representatives) creates laws, the Judicial branch (Supreme Court) determines whether laws are constitutional, and the Executive branch (President) enforces the laws. The President certainly is the proverbial "mascot" of the US, but not solely responsible for running the country.

Don't be fooled, he is not a puppet, he's in on it with his family, the BinLaden family, the family businesses, Haliburton, The Saudi family, the WASPS of New England and a few other well chosen associates. His Daddy was head of the CIA in the early 1970s when the CIA was overturning democratically elected Socialist governments inLatin America and suppressing people's government whereever it conflicted with US business interests. The USA is a facist country run by out of control alcoholic businessmen. Their time will come.

How many people do you know have actually met the President face to face? If you know anybody like that they would have told you than when he is in a meeting he is in charge. They might have also told you than when he is in those meetings, he expresses himself much better than when he gives speeches.
