I have a new and great idea but I don't know where to start. How would I go about getting a patton and what all is involved.

Go to a local SCORE or SBDC, they are free and can give you individual business consulting. They can answer all your questions.

Do not run out and get a patent. Lots of people do this. It cost a lot of money (patent attorney), and they end wasting a lot of money. Do not respond to those "invention" ads on TV.

Make sure you have done the proper research (links above) and have a step by step plan.

Hi, try googling "obtaining a patent" and that should lead to some site to explain what you need to do or where you need to go. You may have to put in your state also. Good luck to you.
