I can see that most answerers are dreaming that India would have been a superpower.and there would have been peace all around.
even i used to dream like that when i was in my teens.
India would have become the haven of terrorists.please think it over.
Hindus would have become a minority( i am not a hindu Fanatic, just being realistic)
religious riots would have happened constantly, hindus would have given up, as they usually do,and accepted that they are a minority.
Sharia law might have been imposed in some states and in the process in other states.
INDIA would not have been what it is now, because it would have got bogged down with so many internal conflicts.
India still has a long way to go in terms of its poverty upliftment, infrastucture development.
But even what we have achieved would not have been possible. With the baggage we would have been carrying if india was united with Pakistan(east and formerly west).hope you remember how east pakistan treated west pakistan and india had to get involved leading to the creation of bangladesh.sorry to say bangladesh is not grateful and they dislike india more than pakistan.
they are plenty of more reasons and examples if you seek them out.
India is what it is because it does not have pakistan.it would not have been what it is if it had pakistan.
i am not a war-monger.i got my nirvana hope you guys get it soon too.

It is a fact that wherever the Britishers rulled, they left a rift or two before leaving so as to prove to the world that only they could handle it. They believed that there would be a civil war as they designed it to happen. They were successful in India too and country was devided accordingly.

Since yours is a hypothetical question I dont mind my imagination going beyond reality.

Now had it not happened India would have remained undevided.
Since the rift between hindus and muslims was designed by the Britishers, it would not have affected our secular fabric.

Hindus and muslims would have not been so alien to each other though most of them do respect each other.

India would have been more powerful and bigger then now and its problem still bigger.

You can think of our cricket team.

You can think of the manpower which wolud have been available to us.

YOU COULD THINK OF GOING TO KASHMERE on a pleasure trip.

No VISA, no passport for visiting Lahore , karanchi, etc.

One more....May be Musharraf would have been running a Dhaba in Delhi.

And our own pa..ji would have been doing balle..balle in Habib Bank..

See .. there is no limitation to our imagination.

One more...[ stop me plz..]. there would have been only one ISI i.e Indian Standard Institute.

The population of Muslims is more in India in compare to Pakistan. They are living here happily and peacefully. I don't think there would have been any difference. Yes, its true that all those dirty wars might not have been fought.

a lot less violence killings and wars. the british imposed to the indians that musilms killed hindus and hindus killed muslims.
Because of them india and pakistan have lost a ggreat number of people. If they hadd not been seperated then india would be more powerful and there would be more peace within asia.

SHARU, INDIA IS ALREADY A SUPERPOWER MORE POWERFUL THEN THE US AND IN SECOND PLACE TO CHINA

at the time of the split ,it was not the british but the indians themselves(so lets not tell lies )it was to try and stop the killings between hindus and moslems as they hated eachother and still do,no doubt there would have been civil war where a lot more people would have died,
