Its all very superficial, and its all for attention. There is some kind of mental problem there, because emo's ain't right.

Why stereotype? Not all emo people are like that, u think! Plus, I don't get what the big deal is with emo music and emo people! Just say emotional! Jeez! It wasn't but a few months ago, that I found out what emo was! Why try to confuse everyone with this emo crap! And at first I thought emo music was skater music, so that's one thing that got me confused about it. I guess it can be skater music, but it's still a stereotype to think all emos are skater punks or whatever. But don't hang out with those emo people that you are talking about if you don't like them. But don't stereotype the emos cause not all of them are like that. I don't even know if I would call myself emo, but I really don't wanna classify me in a specific group and if anyone calls me emo I'm gonna get pissed and start cussing them out.

Male members of emo bands find themselves hit with homosexual tendencies largely a reflection of the style of dress popular within the \\\"emo scene\\\" and the displays of emotion common in the scene

They are just a bunch of attention-whores who have bad taste in music. The fact that they don't know the difference between emo, punk, and metal makes it even worse. Emo blows...

to them, they felt that being emo is a trend, and having "torn lips", "lip piercings" and etc make them feel great and popularity. to me, its all for the fame and popularity.
i've seen alot of emo people coming to gigs and creating a mess.
they're not having mental illness. i think they're easily influenced by the atmosphere of such "emo" songs and because of that, its all about the attention. they needed attention because nobody's paying attention to them

No, it's not mental illness. They're just glorifying mental illness. And before anybody says anything, they ARE NOT GOTH! No self respecting goth would act that way.

It's an attention thing. They feel they aren't getting enough, so they have to act like total idiots.
