Spam: Repeated text or message in a forum or basically any were. For example Call 1 800 567 1321 for supply to increase your penis size. If you post this or send it to someone its spam. Most of the time spam will be repeated many times over on diffident sites or multiple spam on one site it will vary. Spam does not away have to try to sell something but most of the time its selling or promoting stuff.

The second one is easy. An avatar is the picture that goes with your name on many sites or programs mostly messaging programs like MSN. So on yahoo its the little pictures of either cartoon people or if you got the 360 account you can pick your own. That's an Avatar.

Good question because in the Internet world it is imposable to avoid these two things.
