trying to swap gen to alt but bat is not charging they say to wrap all the wires up that go to the rehulator , just has serg in power the lights look like a wave of power up down up down?

best bet pick up a CHILTONS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS BOOK it has schematic drawings of charging systems .you can use an external regulator and alternator say for an older GM OR FORD alternators with internal regulators are harder to integrate with the wiring of older cars .you can cross link into the charging system on the rambler a lot easier and less wiring issues . I had a 72 DATSUN 510 2 DOOR SEDAN .It had a motorola charging system that was all fried .I bought the book and wired it like an older GM alternator with external regulator wired right into the system wiring worked perfectly .

your alt.still needs a voltage regulator,or the battery will not charge.it's only the newer ones that have a built in reg.it would still have to have a battery wire.
