Is that not the normal route. First he comes as a friend. And then the relationship one day blooms into a romantic one, unknowingly.

My friend did become my boyfriend and I accept him very much we have been together for a while now and we are very happy we are engaged to be married and we are even better friends then what we were when we started dating. I love him very much and he is the best friend I could ever have and I couldn't see myself not accepting him. He is the love of my life and my best friend, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
