he was born in massachusetts but they have no record there of him and he married my mother and they lived in los angeles but there is no record there.

Well like some other people said you might wanna ask some fmaily members to finds out anything you can on him and you can do searches on the internet for people. I have the same problem as you do and I have had some luck in finding who my birth father is but I have never met him cause I dont know if I wanna meet a man that left me at birth and dont want anything to do with me. But just ask around adn dont go getting dna tests on any guy you think might be your dad. Its expensive. Believe me I know cause I have a child and it was expensive for that.

You could do it yourself but it would take you quite a long time to learn the public records research tricks.
I suggest you contact a reputable private investigator. A good pi has access to many data bases (not available to the public) and could do the job fairly quickly, for a few hundred dollars.
Make sure that it is a reputable private investigator.

Check at the local court house of your place of birth listed on the birth certificate. Look for marriage licenses, birth certificate in his name. If all else fells check with the IRS. If they can't find him I don't know who could.

Ask other family members aunt, uncles friends of your mothers from back then someone has to know something. Good Luck I hope you find what your looking for.
