Im looking to by a nice gaming laptop. I want one with a good graphics card and wireless card. I want a laptop so i can easily go to my friends houses and do lan partys. I was looking into a Alien ware but the price just seems to add up fast when costumizing.

What are some good graphics ranges and such that will give me the edge on gaming. I probably will use it to write papers but thats i dont need to spend spendy software money on microsoft word or anything.

Looking around the 1000-2000 dollar range

Any tips/tricks ect that will help me out is appreciated

Just buy a dell with a dual core and upgrade the graphics card and ram. Get the best video card you can afford, and you will have good gaming.

First let me stray from your price range as you had mentioned the first price buster word "game laptop"

Think modular graphics cards. The best modular graphics cards design for notebooks are of course the top game notebooks on the market. Not really desgined as portables per say but they are really go at the desktop replacement level more.

Voodoo
Alienware
Falcon

and since Dell owns Alienware and now HP owns Voodoo you can then probably find the right price range for these notebooks through the traditional channels. But with the high end gamer notebooks they provide the best modular graphics card upgradeability for longer use.
