NEVER. Its is Useless Nonsense.
It is there to serve the interests of the big 5 , especially the US.
Israel thumb its nose at UN all the time.
US does it.
If I compare the UN to a club of old ladies in a village church , village
ladies clubs will protest.
I think every self respecting citizen should want his(her) country out of UN. I definitely think so. Do you think Kofi Annan is ashamed to be the laughing stock of the whole world? May be the pay is good.( Nothing personal. my remark is about the state of his position )

The United Nations is just a stage of drama where super-powers play their evil politics to destroy other weaker nations. Besides, the UN is completely meaningless. The USA and UK attacked Iraq without listening to the UN. Kofi-Anan and the present South Korean who has been elected as the UN Secretary General, are nothing but puppets in the hands of the americans. It fits, the UN is in the USA, thus the UN is directly and in-directly controlled by the USA.
No, I am not only blaming the USA. The previous super-power, the USSR was also a culprit in some cases. The Vietnam war between the USA and the Soviet Union, was completely un-necessary. The two super-powers just wanted to pass their time, money, resources and machines by playing a Cat and Mouse game in a play-ground. Vietnam was their play-ground and the two super-powers just exploited that beautifull country. Korea and Vietnam are victims of the two super-powers.
The UN is formed just for a name-sake formality, to show the world that there is peace, justice and tranqulity all over the globe. The truth is that even half of what the UN claims has never happended in reality. Some people may argue on the Statistics shown and produced by the UN. Well, statictics can be used to prove anything, whether right or wrong.
Take examples like Child-labor, poverty and other evils. Africa and India are still suffering all those. Animal rights is just a business propaganda by the media. Every year thousands of animals from the Eastern hemisphere are been hunted and exported to the West for fashionable clothes. Animals all over the world are shot, hunted and slautered in day-light, yet the UN claims that everything is just fine

The Truth..........The UN is effective to an extent......If you consider the financial and humanitarian aid provided to countries that would otherwise only get support from "every ones safety net" the U.S.
But when it comes to Military issues, which is the reason we started the UN in the first place (to enforce a world order with morality in mind), The UN is infective because the will not stand up to terrorist, instead, relying on the U.S. to do the dirty work.

To be honest... Usually not. It does give the more powerful countries a nice way to try and police the world which is cool..
I guess....
Luckily all it's allowed to do is give warnings and starve the poor people of that already famished country even more with "harsh" sanctions.
What can you take away from people who have nothing?
the rulers know the people have nothing they don't care
sanctions won't work
heh human beings are pains in the *** huh? :)

It is suppose to be... it can't stop everything, Countries hold their own responsibilities, but it's suppose to be a place where World Leaders (or Representatives of World Leaders) go to "talk it all out" They started it after WW2 and there hasn't been a WW3 yet "knock on wood"

Not at all. Is is a swirling, sucking whirlpool of corruption, greed, sucking money at an incredible rate with no benefit to show for it.
