I do...sometimes so bad they knock the wind outta me and leave me there standing, thinking "I SWORE this has happened before."

Didn't you just ask that? ...

(Sorry. It had to be said.) ( :

Interestingly enough, roughly 70% of people surveyed claimed to have experienced deja vu at least once. There's a high correlation, too, with deja vu and schizophrenia, anxiety, and most especially temporal lobe epilepsy.

Some researchers suggests, therefore, that a deja vu experience is just a sort of 'misfire' of the memory, such that your brain mistakes a short-term memory for a long-term one. And they have a very good piece of evidence to their credit - most people experiencing deja vu cannot recall anything about an original incident which would cause a memory of repetition. Almost as if there were no original memory to recall.

Now me, I get 'jamais vu' all the time. Jamais vu is when you look at something that is familiar, but for a moment it looks like something you have never seen or heard of before. Almost as if an alien has left it and you're seeing it for the very first time in your entire life (jamais vu literally means 'never seen'). Which can be a weird sensation, but enlightening too - you'd be surprised how much most people just don't see things that they're familiar with. Of course, in may case I'm an epileptic, so maybe it's more reasonable for my brain to be working goofy. ( :

I'm not sure how much it's studied, but it occurs to me too that most people actually DO the same kinds of things over and over. It doesn't count as deja vu, after all, if you actually DID the eexact same thing yesterday as today!

Elizabeth Loftus? False memories might be deja vu. I find it fascinating that the mind can create connections between thoughts, dreams, and reality. Deja Vu - happens to me all the time.

I'm with you -- and it drives me crazy. Sometimes I think I am ALMOST figuring it out, but then I lose the thought. I have even had it happen to the point, where I have thought, "Wait, I know what I am supposed to do next," but it's like it just goes off before I can remember. What do you think it really is???

Hell yes, extreme is the word. It leaves me baffled and I end up questioning my sanity, but yes, Deja Vu happens and it freaks me out.

Yup. A few weeks ago I had one that lasted for probably 15 seconds. Two coworkers were having a conversation and everything they said I felt that I remembered. It felt pretty weird. Happens occasionally.

I have this happen all the time. I'll be right in the middle of doing something and then that feeling comes over me like I've done this before. I have to stop for a reality check. Yes and lately about you. A strong feeling you would ask a question something like: You know, that weird feeling that you've been here before, experienced the same feelings, seen the same things, maybe even know what's coming next? Yes and lately about you. A strong feeling you would ask a question something like: You know, that weird feeling that you've been here before, experienced the same feelings, seen the same things, maybe even know what's coming next? My feeling is that in the future you will ask another (maybe even many) question and ask people to star them. That is my prediction.
