For several weeks I have been running about 2 miles at 6mph and then on to the eliptical for another 2 miles. Is all this cardio safe?

They tell you to walk and jog when you are pregnant. As long as you don't push it the exercise is good for your body.

If this is normal for you to exercise so much then it will be fine. Your body is accustomed to it so unless the Doctor says otherwise there is no reason to stop just because your pregnant, of course as the pregnancy goes on, it will be more and more uncomfortable to run such distances, that's when you back off some.......... enjoy your time

actually it has been proven that running isn't good for women at all. the impact is bad for our reproductive organs. so if running is bad under circumstances that are normal, i can't imagine that running while pregnant is much better. that much cardio could stress you too, and higher stress on your body can cause miscarriage. i think if i was in your position, i'd at least calm down the work out for the next few months. try a more low impact aerobics class instead. the lower impact workouts are better for you and baby.

If your body is used to the exercize that you are doing than it is safe. Running will not induce miscarriage unless the pregnacy was not viable for some reason. If your body is not used to that type of exercize than it is not good to start doing it.

you really shouldnt get your heart rate over 160bpm.....so as long as you are monitoring your heart rate, you should be ok.

they say this because the faster your heart rate is, the quicker blood is pumping through you, this could in turn cause stress in your baby (considering you share the same blood supply and flow)

i am 7 1/2 pregnant and still work out, i just make sure to monitor my heart rate regularly

This should be perfectly safe for you if you were regularly doing this before you got pregnant but always check with YOUR doctor to ensure that there are no problems that he can foresee

If you did it before pregnancy, you'll be fine, but starting something new isn't. Or at least, that's what my child development teacher told me.

any doctor will recommend that you exercise MODERATELY, but if you feel pain or discomfort-u should STOP.
