My daughter in mid-20's lives alone and is dying from anorexia. She refuses help or counseling. Won't discuss her illness. Takes laxatives and dieuretics daily. Already having heart problems and very underweight. Says she is tired and worn out and her boyfriend is drifting away, so she has no reason to live. Was sent home from job on unpaid leave for being sick too much. Does anyone have experience on how to help someone who doesn't want help?

You may want to have an intervention. People with eating disorders are very ill. They often do not see what they really look like, seeing only the parts of them that they believe to be fat or undesirable.

Treatment in a hospital is difficult as they are monitored constantly to prevent them from purging and hiding food. Simply making them eat is not enough and psychological treatment is required.

I think that your best bet is to have an intervention, or to see if it is possible to have your daughter admitted to a hospital, possibly against her will. If she is already having heart problems due to her eating disorder, then she is a real danger to herself. She needs help.

it quite is definitely ridiculous, there is not any such issues as a "reliable" anorexic weight loss application plan. With that weight loss application you would be pulling in approximately 4 hundred energy, and that's in all probability on the severe area. that may no longer close to sufficient. attempt something like 1700 energy and burn 3 hundred-500 off on the gymnasium.

Its so difficult to try and help someone who doesnt want help, i had a friend who was bulimic and she didnt want any help, all we could do was be there for her when she needed us, it was so hard not being able to help, but there was nothing we could do, luckily she snapped out of it when she met her current boyfriend and now shes as happy as Larry, i really hope your daughter will get better soon! but in the mean time i think as long as you show her your love and support thats the best you can do!!!!

Do you have a family doctor? Maybe you could discuss intervention or getting a power of attorney to get her into a treatment center. She needs help now. You can also ask your county attorney's office about how to get help.

Call a treatment center in your area about how to go about this. They will have seen this situation before.

I've known a few like this and their common problem was that they had insecurities. Does she feel unloved or unattractive? Something in her needs to be changed so she will think differently, or she will kill herself. My friend did this to lose weight, thinking she was fat, and kept on losing weight until she went into the hospital and nearly died. It took her almost a year to recover. Your daughter really needs to talk to someone, or go to an outpatient facility. Has she ever watched the movie about the "Carpenters"??

I only have one suggestion and it probably won't work but anything's better than just giving up.

Throw her a party with lots of whatever her favourite food and drink used to be. Invite lots of friends. Have happy Mexican music playing. Plenty of pleasant food smells wafting from the kitchen. Ask people to tell here how beautiful she looks and to invite her to whatever parties or other functions they are having : try to encourage her to make plans for the future. Lots of smiles and well behaved people.
