Great question.

This happen to me a couple of years ago but I've got no idea what caused it. I had a glass on a shelf in the kitchen, it wasn't too hot, I had no appliances on at the time and it just exploded. Not just cracked but exploded into thousands of pieces. Weirdest thing I've ever seen.

I heard it happening (I was in the other room) and it sounded just like a small explosion. My theory is that is was just going thru some chemical reaction and was breaking down whatever molecules hold glass together.

Hope you get a good answer to the question because its puzzled me since it happened.

PS. The bottom of the glass was still on the shelf so it didn't fall off and break. Also, the temperature was fairly constant too, not too hot or not too cold.

The TV can output a wide range of sound frequencies, one of which could be just right (and strong enough) to match the resonant frequency of the glass and cause it to shatter due to the way the sound wave moves through the glass.

This is similar to the old effect used in cartoons and movies where an opera singer breaks glass by hitting a high note.

You need to Understand the proprieties of Glass. Glass is formed in a molten state and if it is not cooled properly it can have a "built-in" stress that will express itself if the conditions are right.

Usually glass is "Conditioned" to prevent this but if the responsible person is on a break then it may not happen ;-)

Wow you would think that in the course of achieving a score of 26000 points you would have figured out how to offer a contact email. The answer to your question is "you staring at it"

People like you are very sad and need to install online worlds such as second life.

And 9/11 was a government sponsored atrocity and I would be willing to go to prison for saying that. Rather than talk to Morons like you I have contacted the British Prime Minister with the evidence.

Bullets

You should be able to see the debris and find there are more inside the room vs. outside the house.

Probably a sooty cat knocked it off the seat onto the floor, where it broke.
