i restored my computer back to a week ago but i needed to go back farther, but when i went to change it, all my restore points up until last week are gone. Is there some way to get that 2 yrs worth of dates back?

Every system administrator and even now Windows will tell you, the only good backup is a Full System Backup on a Removable Media Device or a second HDD that is not connected to the main OS, until it is needed. Backups are meant to be Incremental, PC is working, make a backup then, work or play for a while, next week, make a second one, now you have 2 Backups that are Stable Versions of a System.Next week, if PC is still running, format the 1rst backup, and make a new one. Now you have a plan against a crash, wich is going to happen, only question is, are you prepared to lose all data. With the Multiple Backup routine, yes. If you depend on an Internal Backup that is on the System and the System will not respond that back up is as usefull as a car with 4 flat tires and a cracked motor.

There is no way. If System Restore saved 2 years worth of restore points, there would be no room on your hard drive for anything else.

Sorry.

You might want to look into getting a RAID array setup using a couple hard drives and a backup software like Norton's Ghost to automatically make periodic backups. Not really expensive anymore, and much safer than trusting your in-board harddrive to keep your data safe.
