Reviews of antivirus products that I've read have shown that there's no real perfect tool. There are two that are available for free that seem to get fairly good reviews: Avast, available from www.avast.com, and AVG Antivirus, available from www.grisoft.com. I use AVG Antivirus and have no reason to complain about it--it's spotted malware a couple of times when I was experimenting with some software that I downloaded. I prefer it to commercial products such as Norton Antivirus. My vote goes to AVG Antivirus.
