I'm a female aries, born on March 30th. He is born Sept. 23, on the cusp between Libra and Virgo cusp (in fact, depending on who you ask, he's a Virgo instead.) Is this a good match?

Isabella and m!, it's pretty funny how much of your posts overlapped... although I appreciate your additions, Isabella.

Wow Chainlightning, for someone who dislikes astrology so much, you certainly put a great deal of effort and spare time (answering questions on yahoo answers, for example) into researching it. And you like preaching to the choir almost as much as those astrologers you find so upsetting.
Those "contradictions" you so helpfully pointed out are intended by those who practice astrology to account for difference between people. So whether you believe in astrology, it is hard to say it is bigoted if it is also so full of contradictory interpretations - just what slant does this bigotry take? That arians are generous? Or that they are selfish?
Stop taking life so seriously. It is stress inducing. People like to have a bit of fun sometimes, they like to indulge their mystical side. Maybe some truly believe in astrology, and they are justified - just as justified as any religious person is in their beliefs. But I see it as a fascinating concept, and there is more variety of view because of it

Aries & Libra

Two signs which naturally attract and complement each other. Tactful Libra tones down the Ram's fury, and redirects his or her individualism towards a partnership whose logical conclusion is the marriage which matters so much to Libra. The Libran harvests the Ram's vigor, but is sometimes rebuffed by blunt language. Aries must be careful to give Libra time to express him or herself. Otherwise, the magnetism which attracts them may turn into mutual repulsion.

my mum's libra.. my ex is libra.. and a friend from y/a is libra. i'm aries of course. they are too different. like total opposites of each other. which can be a good or bad thing. this kind of union is def better then say a aries/virgo union where there's nothing in common whatsoever. in aries/ libra things, both can learn a lot from each other. can they ever settle down together? doubt it. libra shows aries how to slow down in life and be calm and good things will happen. aries shows libra that she should be more aggressive in life and go after what she wants. will they listen? probably not. both are cardinal signs. like to be the leader and have too much individuality to listen and comprehend objective advise.

wow, i just got out of a relationship with a Libra, also born 9/23, i thought i was in love with this man. oh , and by the way i am an Aries also so i know how passionate a relationship with this Libra can be. some how they have a knack for enticement and the loving is usually the bomb. here in lies the problem, there is a tendency to get so addicted to this person (Libra) that you tend to overlook their negative side. which i would consider to be selfish and very challenging you can win him Aries but you will have to pay the price.

Aries & Libra

When Aries and Libra come together in a love affair, the inherent polarity of the Zodiac is invoked. Aries and Libra are directly opposite one another in the Zodiac -- 180 degrees apart. Each Sign possesses qualities that the other lacks; combined with Libra's natural yen for harmony, this can be a relationship that enjoys great balance. Aries is the Sign of Self while Libra is the Sign of Partnership, and the differences continue: Aries is impulsive, excitable and ready to jump right into something new and exciting, while Libra is indecisive, peace-loving and prefers a calm, smooth approach. Aries can learn from Libra that their own way isn't necessarily the best way.

These two Signs share the great sexual attraction common to all Signs opposite in polarity. At the same time, though this pair's connection is amazing when it's good, it can be extremely challenging when it's bad. All polarities have energies that tend to tangle or knot if understandings can't be reached. As a combination, Aries and Libra are well-balanced. Charming, cultured Libra can teach brash Aries something about style. Libra prizes harmony in a relationship and will go to great lengths to maintain it. Aries is very decisive and can teach indecisive Libra about relying on intuition for answers.

Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars and Libra is ruled by the Planet Venus. This is a great match, as these are the Planets of Passion and Love, respectively. Venus and Mars go well together as they're the two sides of the love relationship coin. They're universally recognized as male and female and this relationship is a good balance of masculine and feminine energy. Venus is about the beauty of romance while Mars is about the passion of romance. What a good combination!

Aries is a Fire Sign and Libra is an Air Sign. Air fuels Fire and helps it grow and spread. Aries can have a very positive effect on Libra's growth, ideas and progress; Aries can help Libra put their ideas into action. Working together can be challenging at times, however, due to their polarity. Aries's fast-paced, impetuous approach to projects may conflict with Libra's more balanced, intellectual approach. However, both Signs have wide-ranging interests, and at the end of a long, active day, Aries can come home full of interesting stories to tell the more cerebral Libra!

Aries and Libra are both Cardinal Signs. They both have a lot of initiative -- but lack in follow-through. They both tend to start things they're never going to finish, whether it's a job, a project, a relationship ... Aries will appear to be the leader because of their energy and forceful nature, but Libra leads from an intellectual standpoint. Both Signs want to be in charge, but Aries uses force and sometimes intimidation to get what they want while Libra uses charm and sometimes manipulation. Compromise is essential to this relationship's health. Diplomatic Libra has a much easier time with compromise than does Aries, who strongly dislikes yielding to another person, viewing it as submission. Libra may have to give in more often to Aries's wishes in order to keep the peace that they so cherish.

What's the best aspect of the Aries-Libra relationship? The harmony resulting from the union of Venus and Mars. The balance between self and other represented by this polarity is a great learning experience for both Signs. Each brings to the relationship what the other is missing, making for a wonderful balance.

ASTROLOGY IS BIGOTRY
by Bob Steiner ©2004

Bigotry, n. Prejudgment of a person based upon an accident of birth over which the person has no control, and which has no scientific validity. Bob Steiner

The above seems to be a reasonable working definition of bigotry as it regards the prejudgment of human beings.

When one person evaluates another for a job, jury selection, criminal guilt, membership in an association, or any of several other areas of life, based upon the color of the person's skin, the person's religion, or the color of the person's eyes, there is a storm of protest. "Bigotry! Racism!" are the cries.

And yet, when one human being evaluates the worth of another based upon an accident of birth--the date of birth, it is accepted. It is called astrology.

Friends, astrology is bigotry. That is a clear, demonstrable fact.

At issue in our discussion of astrology is not whether astrology is bigotry. Astrology is bigotry. Rather, we are addressing whether you wish to defend bigotry, whether you wish to base your life on bigotry.

Practitioners, some of whom are frauds and most of whom are sincere, cast horoscopes--fancy charts devoid of useful meaning. They profess to interpret the horoscopes, in order to gather and dispense great wisdom.

In repeated scientific tests to attempt to validate its efficacy, the bunkum called astrology has failed miserably.

Before dismissing astrology out of hand, most assuredly we should acquaint ourselves with the characteristics that are attributed to us. We should also see with whom we share our birth signs.

Linda Goodman's Sun Signs has sold millions of copies. From that we surmise that she is an authority on astrology. In her book, for each sign she has a section on "How to Recognize [that sign]." We shall take a quote from here and a snippet from there, in order that you may learn about either 1) yourself and your characteristics, or (not and) 2) the inconsistency and contradictions of this ancient wisdom called astrology. Please understand that what we point out in Goodman's book is not unique. Rather, it is representative of what you will find in most books touting astrology, as well as in most books selling other mystical bunkum.

All quotations in the remainder of this article are from Linda Goodman's Sun Signs; citations are page numbers.

ARIES the Ram, March 21st through April 20th.

The ram is conscious only of himself (4).
His needs come first (4).
Aries is concerned with the world only as it relates to himself (5).
You can look for a liberal attitude, lavish generosity with both time and material things (6).
There's little that's graceful about the ram (6).
The ram can also be the epitome of social grace (10).

Are you getting the idea that if you read enough you will run across virtually all facets of all behavior patterns? Bingo! The above contradictions are separated in Goodman's text, so that you will not stumble upon them without some effort. That is what attracts people to astrology in the first place: the idea that they can get simple and immediate answers to life's complex problems without effort.

You will be pleased to know that you share your birth sign with Adolf Hitler.
