I just got the game today and i need to know how to recruit! i have a lot of the friend areas but no pokemon, besides Me and squirtle!

there are several requirements to recruit.
obviously, you need the area they live in.
then, it helps if you are higher level.
the leader of the group needs to do the last attack, and be next to them
even then, it's only a CHANCE that they'll be recruited
after they join you, you need to keep them alive til you leave the dungeon, in order to keep them

when you get to a new floor, push B, go to "other" at the bottom, then the second option from the bottom, will tell you what pokemon on that floor you can recruit

You must defeat a Pokemon in battle to add it to your party. However, the team leader must deal the finishing blow, and must be adjacent (right next to) the Pokemon you are fighting.
