I find that occassionally my AV places malware in the quarantined area. Are they a threat when quarantined? What do I do with them?

They arn't a threat. They're put there in case you feel the need to restore them for some reason. If they've been quarantined for a while and you have not seen any adverse affects on your computer, delete them.

The purpose of Quarantine is to allow you to examine the item stored there. This is so you can make sure it is not a needed program the AV mistakenly recognized as a Virus. Once you are confident it is not something essential you an delete it. Leaving it in Quarantine mean someone can restore back in the computer.

Nothing to worry about it, it is locked up. You may delete also.
