While on military overseas tour in Europe. My baby sister called to tell me that our younger brother was dead. I had just spoken to him on the phone the night before. The thing that bother me the must is that I had only been in Europe for 2 weeks after leaving America. Sometime later I learned that he was murdered. By the time our city's finest discover this all of the evidence had been destroyed and the person that we think killed him will never see the inside of a courtroom for his murder.

Our house caught fire and was burning through the attic when we discovered it @ 2:30 in the morning. We had seconds to grab our dogs and get out; it was a defining moment, we realized how unimportant "things" are and how precious life is.
Live each day like you mean it, take nothing for granted and treasure each and every moment you get to have; make a positive difference.

Wind swamped my canoe in the middle of a big lake. had to dog paddle, dragging the canoe, a damn long way downwind to shore. Took hours. Really thought I was going to drown at one point. Was so hypothermiated when I got to the shore, I had to be carried by bystanders to the road, then warmed up (with blankets and brandied coffee) in the RV of a nice old couple in the campground. They kept wanting to take me to the hospital, but I kept asking if it was okay if I just stayed there a little longer. After while, I was okay and caught a ride to the other side of the lake to get my truck.

OMgosh, that had to be the car wreck that my son and i were in. my son was about 12. i was crossing main street, and a group of people drinking were driving down main street without their headlights on, so i never saw them until it was too late. they hit me so hard that they pushed my car up stairs, onto a small cement patio of someone's house. the police said if the car had hit mine two more inches toward the back door it would have crushed my son into me and killed him. i had amnesia for six months after that wreck, thank god my son was okay. but i get panic attacks to this day when i know he is out with his friends in a car,. you know going on road trips and things and he is 24 now!
