No one INVENTED the Porsche, the invention was the car. However Ferry Porsche was the designer of the first production car to bear the Porsche name, the Porsche 356(1948). Ferdinand Porsche, his father, was the designer of the VW Beetle, and the Porsche 64(1938) of wich only 3 were made, 1 still exists.

Porsche AG is a German sports car manufacturer, founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the engineer who also created the first Volkswagen.
Ferdinand Porsche (September 3, 1875 – January 30, 1951) was an Austrian automotive engineer. Porsche was born to a German speaking family in Austria-Hungary. His birthplace is now part of the city of Czech Republic. Porsche is best known for designing the original Volkswagen Beetle and for his contributions to advanced German tank designs: Tiger I, Tiger II and the Elefant. Adolf Hitler honored Porsche in 1937 when he was awarded the German National Prize for Art and Science, one of the rarest decorations in the Third Reich.

Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, he created the volkswagen when he was asked by Adolf Hitler to build a car every german family could afford to drive this car later came to be known as the VW beetle, and after the war he bulit racing cars built around the rear mounted air cooled horizontally opposed engine setup of the volkswagen , thus Porsche was born
