Well, if they are "mom and pop" places, they're generally going to stiff their employees. Sometimes if it is run by a corporate office, you can get paid pretty well. My last job was for an ambulance company that was part of a big corporation and I got paid very nicely. My job before that was just a small company and I got paid horribly and had no health insurance. So yeah, it's not about generosity, it's what they've got to spare, but if you look at the company as a whole, you can tell if they are giving employees enough.

It really depends on the company and/or owner. Some are better than others. I have had both types of employers.

Generous to the extent of giving you incentive for increase in production and selfish to the extent of keeping the part of profit, a (little) too much for him.

I have been in the work force for some time and have to say for the most part they feel you are stealing from them and that they would rather not give you no more than they have to! I even had one rob me of money while they were employied by the government and that when I tried to retrive the money owed to me the agencies I called would tell me "call this agencie or that one because they did'nt want to get involved! Bunch of bastard's! OUR GOVERNMENT IS CORUPT TO IT'S VERY CORE!!!!!!!!Oh yea I can prove it!!!!

Depends on your perspective.
If you are selfish and always want more then you will think your employer is sefish for not giving you what you want.
