I have sewn a little bit in the distant past and remember a little bit. I have done a tiny bit of machine work, but it was with tons of help. I am good at doing hand sewing. I have altered some of my own dresses becuase I am smaller in the shoulders. I hand mend and do buttons. I am good with design because I have been making and designing jewelry for over 10 years.

I just need a basic class at a place that does not require me to buy their machine and then someone to help me to work on my own ideas. I already have designs in my head. I just need the skills.

Any ideas please help.

If you received an instruction manual, try the web site if you are good at following technical language/instructions. Since you have used a machine in the past, you will probably recall a whole lot as you go along . . . but machines have changed in some ways -- do what you are comfortable with. And if there is no instruction manual, you should be able to download one at their web site.

In the medium and larger cities that have shops that sell sewing machines, or repair them, they usually give lessons. If you are in a smaller community, you might ask the home ec teacher for recommendations for private lessons.

Here in California, the local community centers and community colleges often have sewing classes at low fees. See if your town's recreation department has sewing classes...or the next town over...
