Contact the state and/or county vital statistics department where you were born. Tell them you want a copy of your ORIGINAL birth certificate...some states will give it out, some won't. I went to the county courthouse probate department to get mine...that was about 20 years ago though. The original birth certificate should have your birth mother's name, age, place of birth, etc. then you can go from there to find her. I found my birth mother (and father) and am really happy I did. Depending on if it was an open or closed adoption will set limits on how you can contact her. Open adoption means that the birth records are not sealed, and you can usually go thru the adoption agency that placed you with your family (if you know it, or if your parents are supportive in helping you find your birth mother). Another forum you can go thru is adoption.com (think that is the right link)that allows both biological parents and adopted children to try and find each other. If you are in a case where the adoption records are sealed, you most likely will have a harder time trying to find your birth mother. Best of luck, and hope this can at least get you started in some direction. Don't be afraid to talk to your parents, they usually are the best source of info.

the adoption agency might release it to you. or you adoptive parents may have some clue. other than that once you find it check the yellow pages online every chance you get. good luck. also adopted, but by aunt. never see my mom and just found my dad on11/23/05. very good feeling to see your eyes looking back at you and knowing the truth. i am wishing you the very best of luck!!!
