check with your work plan. They decide what is considered short term disability. But I would think so, b/c isn't delivering a baby short term disability? Medical is Medical. Especially if the doc says to take the time off.

only if you paid for it at your job, or paid for it with your life insurance policy. check to see if you have any medical riders. Also if you have outstanding creditors, Like credit cards, home/car insurance, sometimes they give short term disability. So look through all your stuff and see if you have a claim. You will not be able to get it through social security. Good Luck

In NY there is. You just notify your employer. They will send you some papers. You need to get the doctor to fill out one, then send them back. If it takes a while don't worry because it's retroactive. The money is nowhere close to great (I got 1/5th of my salary) but it paid the grocery bills.

There are also individual plans offered through many employers, but you need to have signed up with your employer when you first started

STD coverage is part of Workers Compensation coverage.
If your heart attack occurred at work then std benefits could apply. If not you personal health coverage if any mayprovide coverage.
