Although your question is vague, I'll assume you're asking about engine valve clearances.
Valves which are set too loosely will be noisy and will lead to premature valve train wear.
Valves set too tightly will cause the rocker shaft to break and / or even break the cam shaft.

Bent push rods to blown pistons from the piston slapping the valve.
