Yes. I honestly do think too much material fortune is a bad thing for most people. A fool with a lot of money will destroy himself and others around him. A wise man with a lot of money risks becoming soft and decadent, and no longer be able to find the flame within himself to overcome himself.
Few people can find themselves very wealthy and still stay connected to their values, and make that money work towards the achievement of their values. I think too much wealth ultimately corrupts.

It destroys fools. Those that don't realize it is always temporary and doesn't solve all problems anyway.
It endangers the wise. That they may get used to it and forget what made them wise.
