Good grief, I am still waiting on my youngest.. He is almost 8 months old and STILL gets up 3-4 times a night. My first was not sleeping all night until she was 18 months old, but baby number two and 3 were both just 3 weeks... Go figure..

At 3 months a babies' metabolism starts to change so they don't need to eat during the night anymore. I find that it depends more on the parents. I know parents of triplets who had them all sleeping through the night at 4 months, the six month old I nanny for still gets up 2 times, and once is just for a diaper change. I also know 1 year olds that still get up. I think that parents really help encourage their kids one way or the other. However, there are certainly babies that do their own thing anyway.

My first one did at 2 months, the second is 3 and he still doesn't, and my baby started at 4 weeks.

That boy still comes into our room every night. Taking him back to his room only results in another frantic run to ours!

Maybe it's a gender thing - the girls are pretty independent.

Baby should start sleeping through the night when they are around 2 months. My son didn't but he had sever colic.

It really varies quite a bit from baby to baby. My kids were sleeping through the night at around 3-4 months. I've heard of newborns sleeping at night though, so most any answer is possible.

Every baby is different. Most babies by about 4 months have slept through the night once or only wake up once a night, but, you won't get much of those all nighters until they get sippee cups and can sleep with those and pick them up for themselves when they wake up without you having to administer it to them.

My daughter is 9 months previous, breastfed and nevertheless would stay wakeful interior the path of the evening. As a small toddler she had silent reflux so she become on no account a super sleeper at the start. at the instant she oftentimes is going to sleep around 9 or so, will wake around a million in spite of this around 5 - it quite is as quickly as I ought to stand as much as get waiting for artwork. If she's having a foul teething evening then she would be in a position to awaken each couple hours. We do have nights like this previous Friday the place she slept from 9:20 pm till 4 am; I awoke around 3 and found out she hadn't woke me yet - that become interesting, as you may think of. My son did no longer sleep interior the path of the evening till he become strolling, which thankfully become around 9 a million/2 months - my daughter has all started status via herself and strolling must be in simple terms around the corner, i'm hoping she'll commence dozing longer as quickly as she's strolling yet we will in simple terms ought to work out. I additionally get jealous of the mummy's who ponder whether ok for their infant to be dozing interior the path of the evening at 2 months, i do no longer want to take heed to it...........

Sometimes they never do until they are much older. It all depends on the child. My grandson is a year and a half and still wakes up around three in the morning no matter what my daughter does. On the other hand my daughter never got me up at night from the get-go.

Although it depends on the baby, I also believe that it depends on the parents. Once a baby is 11 pounds they should physically be able to sleep through the night. That is, they shouldn't need to eat at night. Just as adults do, babies will wake at night, but they just don't know how to fall back to sleep. If you go to your baby everytime they wake and fuss, you will encourage them to continue to wake at night for attention and love. Or, you can do your baby and yourself a favor, and let them learn to soothe themselves back to sleep.

There are so many books written on the subject of sleep, and there are greatly differing opinions on the subject. Although it was difficult for the three nights that it took to work, our son learned to soothe himself back to sleep at 11 weeks. He now sleeps from 7pm to 8am - waking at 6am for a quick snack. It's fabulous!

Good luck!

It's different for every baby! My son was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. He'd go to bed around 11pm and wake up at 7am. He was breastfed....but drinking 6-8ozs at a time. (I pumped also so I was able to see how much he was getting)
