My boyfriend needs to get his learner's permit. We live in the state of Pennsylvania, so you need a physical done within a year before you try to take the test. He has no health insurance and he is only 17 years old. How much do you think a physical exam would cost him? I'd be happy to hear any helpful words.

And I forgot to mention he doesn't live with his parents, and he never has. Currently he lives with me and my parents in my basement, but we all have health insurance, so we don't know how much it would cost.

I live in the state of michigan and without insurance. It runs about $25.00 to get a physical done at a normal doctors office or med-express. It should be around the same price in Penn. If you really need to know, just call up some doctors offices and ask them what a physical runs without insurance. They have standard rates that they can tell you. Hope I helped!

Question is, does he still live with his parents, and does his parents have insurance, if so, then he should be covered under his parents insurance until either turns 18 or 19, if he goes to school after, then it would be 21. But if not, then try and find a walk in clinic those are pretty cheap, or check with the health department, they would be able to tell you where to go for it, or see if they give it there. That would be the cheapest way yet.

Call different doctors offices and tell them you need the physical for driving then tell them you have no insurance. You might get a nice doctor who will give you a discount. I shopped around when i didn't have insurance and instead of 185 he brought it down to 65 dollars

Well he is young i would ask for state assistence or try a free clinc! it may be some foot work or extra miles but it's free! so Give it a shoot or at least save up for the doctors oppointment around 50 at most places and then for all the other stuff like blood work veryies it all depends on how detailed the exam is!
Good luck

Seems like most physicals cost between 40-70 dollers. I would call around and ask. I know that some states also offer scale rates so it would depend on his parents income.

It would cost over $100, but I'm sure that there must be another way.

He can talk to his parents to help get him insurance or go to social services to get low-cost healthcare.
