Chances are good that the baby will be in the right position. They are most of the time. Some techs don't feel comfortable pressing on the womb.

You can never know the chances of whether the baby will be in the right position or not. When you go, if you get lucky, the baby will reveal itself. Sometimes, depending on the person doing the ultrasound, they will take the time to wait until the baby moves around to get the sex, but some people are just in a hurry and if they don't show themselves after the first few minutes then you go home empty handed =[.

Yeah they're gonna poke around at you a little....with a full bladder no less. Depending on how far along you are, they will probably be able to tell. Although, ultrasounds earlier (around 15-20 weeks) are easier to tell becaue the baby is not so cramped in there. Just tell them you want to know and they'll do what they can to find out.

When I went for my ultrasound my son was not in the right position. They pushed him around for about 20 minutes trying to see but he wouldn't budge no matter what they did. Luckily I ended up having to go back for another ultrasound a few weeks later and he was a little more cooperative that time! : )
