How many of you know what a dog trot house is and have you ever seen one?

If you know please tell why it is called that. I already know but by you telling it I will know you know. I am not positive about northerners knowing this or not but southerners will know I know.

they're still popular here in texas, big overhanging roofs going all the way around the house to keep shade on the house sides and most of them have porches all around too

I think like a log cabin or a wooden house...I'm not sure. I'm southern tho so that may be the reason.

Never heard of it. I have lived in Maryland, California and Virginia.
