First off, hardcopy means printed out in paper, while softcopy means it's stored in your computer or on-line. This applies to all sorts of documents. For saying hardcopy resume, that means a resume printed out, on hand. So, an on-line resume would be one that is stored on-line then.

A hardcopy is an actual print out of your resume that you turn in or mail to the business you are applying to. Submitting an online resume is like sending someone your resume by email. It's not as official or professional.

Seriously? A hardcopy resume is one that's printed on paper. An online resume is on that exists only online!

The hardcopy is more permanent (online sites can shut down or have technical glitches)...and it is easier to read. Many print out resumes before they read them.

I have had better luck submitting paper resumes than using online sources--but that is my experience.

A hard copy is your resume in a word file that can be printed. A soft copy is I guess a resume that you would create by filling out forms online.
