Formula is still the base of the daily food intake. Otherwise, go to the store and look around. There are SOOO many choices! The six month old I nanny for eats everything from just plain pears to pear-pineapple, apples and blueberries, apples and cherries, garden veggies etc. The meats, well you can even get lamb if you want! My baby eats 3 stage 2 jars a day, and really eats anything but peaches (which we havn't tried in a while) and squash. I know that probably wasn't much help, but have fun with it!

My daughter is about to be six months old on the 22. I give her about 4 to 5 ounces breast milk very early morning ( between 6 and 7 am) at around 9 to 9:30 am she has1/4 cup of single grain baby cereal mixed with half a container of Gerber's stage 1 bananas ( I usually mix the cereal with water then warm it up a little) She has a snack of banana's again around noon and 1 or pears followed by breast milk (or formula, whichever she drinks)
then between 4 and 5:30 she has her dinner. Right now she's eating the Gerber's stage 2 turkey and yams, and that's the whole jar. Sometimes I giver her a little snack of more bananas or sweet potatoes depending on if she seems hungry or not before her bath. But, she still drinks and loves breast milk and after every one of her meals she drinks a good amount of water. that's my basic menu for my little one. Hope that helps

You want to exclude eggs, shellfish, peanut butter, and strawberries until they are older. I hear that you should avoid the first three until they are almost 3 years old - to prevent allergies.
Other than that, introduce food slowly, a new food every 3 days. Texture is the most important thing so she doesn't choke.
My health nurse said that babies weren't getting enough iron from the bought cereals since they flaked off and fell to the bottom - causing iron deficiencies and then bad stomach aches. She told me to feed meat once a day, starting at 6 months.

My babies would not eat babyfood. They always wanted to eat what the rest of the family was eating. This meant that we ate a lot of soups, steamed veggies, macaroni and fruit.
Try homemade macaroni and cheese with peas. I always smashed it with a fork before feeding it to them. How about potato soups with brocoli and carrots? I added a little cheese and chicken bullion and my kids still ask for this calling it "super soup".
Meat is a tricky one at 6 months. I always started with chicken. I usually baked chicken and then put it through the processor. It takes a while for them to get used to the texture. I usually served it with mashed potatoes and gravey with corn.
Applesauce and bananas were always a favorite.
Make pudding using your baby's formula. Also, try soaking cereal like cheerios, fruit loops or chex in a little formula to make them soft and then feed to your baby.
Hope these help!

I feed my baby a cereal mixed with a spoonfull of fruit, like bananas, along with a serving of another fruit for breakfast.
For lunch a vegetable like sweet potatoes and a fruit, and another fruit or dessert- if the baby is on 2nd foods yet.
For dinner, one of the mixed dinner flavors with a vegetable and dessert.

Applesauce & oatmeal for breakfast-or mashed up bananas
Mashed up carrots, potatoes, peas for lunch with ground up turkey or chicken.
Pasta is ok to mash up too.

my kids had nothing but mommy's milk until 9 months of age and then they like mostly mommy's milk, but also smushed up sweet potatoes, scrambled eggs, bananas. didn't give them meat until after age 1. we basically fed them what we ate.
