Like everyone else said, you still have to pay until they are 18 or 21 depending on what the laws are where you live, or until they are out of school.

However coming from a family where my mother was paid child support but us kids never saw a dime of it, you may want to go back to court and try to renegotiate your set-up if this is your case too. My dad took my mom back to court and told the judge he was tired of paying, not because he didn't want to support us, but because he knew the money wasn't going to/for us. And the judge agreed that now my mother had 2 incomes in the household she didn't need help with the bills, so he was ordered to buy the school clothes and supplies every year, the winter coats and accesories, and any sports we were in.

Furthermore, if your child goes to college, as long as they are still in school, you will still be required to pay support, and the mother is suppose to give that money to the child but in my fathers case he paid my sister directly instead of my mother or else my sister wouldn't have gotten a dime.

You don't have to pay alamony any more but you still pay childsuport untill 18, unless Your X's new Husband adopts your Child then you pay no more support. However, I would rather pay then have my child have some other Man's Last name and you would never have any right to visit or have any input in to your child's Life.

Depends on what state you're in. Some states you have to pay til they're 21yo. I know a man who has 2 daughters, both living with boyfriends and have children of their own & he still has about 4 more years of paying child support to them.

sorry, that only happens with alimony. The kids are yours to take care of for life. You can stop paying child support when they turn 18 or if your ex's new husband adopts them.

Why? Is it that important that you DON'T have to pay?? If it is your child according to child support then u should give with joy, not be concerned if he's picking up the tab. Fuc%^&$ her and him, it's for your child.... Just make sure you are a part of his or her life.. Thats what makes a FATHER/MAN....

no, false. you have to pay child support till the child is 18.

He's your son regardless of whether your ex-wife gets married again or not. And he's still your responsibility until he's at the age of 18. Your son's new "father" isn't going to except responsibility for him-that is your job!!! So, if that is what you were hoping for, think again...

Wrong, if you were paying alimony then you would no longer have to pay that. But, whether she is re-married or not, those are still your children and you should support them.
