I use Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner! Spray it on the strain, let it set for a few seconds, scrub with stiff bristle brush, then a wet cloth. Since this is a water based cleaner the dirt should not collect back in the same spot. Oil based cleaners tend to collect dirt again.

This is a formula that works well for us.
1 part water
1 part dish soap (liquid)
1 part non sud ammonia
Spray on, let us set for 30 to 45 seconds, rub with brush or by hand if possible.
Rinse well.
Hope this is a solution for you.

A product called Nylac is excellent. I truly believe in home remedies, but this really works. Try Walgreens.

BUY A CAN OF "BARBASOL" SHAVING CREAM. IT HAS TO BE THE ONE IN THE RED AND WHITE CAN. SPRAY DIRECTLY ON STAIN TAKE A GENTLE SCRUB BRUSH WORK THE FOAM BACK IN FORTH THEN TAKE A SLIGHT DAMP CLOTH AND BUFF IT OUT TILL YOU NO LONGER SEE FOAM AND IT SHOULD BRING IT OUT. P.S. IF YOUR CARPET IS A BERBER YOU CAN ALSO USE WINDEX GLASS CLEANER-JUST SPRAY IT ON TAKE A DRY CLOTH AND BUFF IT OUT. I USED TO LAY CARPET AND HAD STAINS SUCH AS COFFEE/MUD FROM A SHOE, IT COMES RIGHT OUT. IT ALSO REMOVES KOOL-AID (RED COLOR) OUT OF CARPET.
